The game features some customization features like upgrading abilities through a skill tree and changing costumes. The multiplayer game will allow an online co-op mode for up to four players so players can assemble their own Avengers squad. Gameplay can be played offline as a single-player experience or online with a multiplayer option. Other Avengers will become playable after the initial launch as free Downloadable Contents (DLCs) which also includes new narratives and new areas to explore. The initially playable characters are Captain America (Steve Rogers), Iron Man (Tony Stark), The Hulk (Bruce Banner), Thor, Black Widow (Natasha Romanoff), and Ms.

The game's supporting NPCs include the Hank Pym, J.A.R.V.I.S, Phil Sheldon, Nick Fury, Maria Hill, Dum Dum Dugan, Dante Pertuz, and Cerise. Other superheroes who will be available after the initial release include Hawkeye (Clint Barton), Black Panther (T'Challa), and Hawkeye II (Kate Bishop). For PlayStation owners of the game, Spider-Man (Peter Parker) will be a console-exclusive playable character. The initially playable characters who form the Avengers team are Captain America (Steve Rogers), Iron Man (Tony Stark), The Hulk (Bruce Banner), Thor, Black Widow (Natasha Romanoff), and Ms. Marvel's Avengers features a roster of playable and non-playable characters from the Marvel Universe as well as a few original ones. It will also be released on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X with PlayStation 4 and Xbox One owners being able to upgrade to the next-gen version for free. Marvel's Avengers was released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
